Can I take my dog on the paddle steamer?
Only service dogs are allowed on the paddle steamer.

A service dog is a dog trained (or in training) to assist a person with a disability.
Can we accommodate wheelchairs on the paddle steamer?
Yes, wheelchairs up to 680mm wide can access the vessel but please contact us before making your booking.
What is our cancellation policy?
Customers will be alerted to cancellations as soon as possible and will receive a full refund or credit in case of cancellation due to weather, river conditions, rāhui, COVID restrictions or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.
Can I buy a beer or wine while cruising on the paddle steamer?
Yes, we have a licenced bar onboard which has a selection of beers and wines, and our very own locally brewed beer, lager and cider available for purchase.
Can I buy food on the paddle steamer?
We also have a galley onboard providing a selection of sandwiches, savouries, cakes, and other snack foods and hot and cold beverages available for purchase.
Can I bring my own food onto the paddle steamer?
Bring your own food or alcohol is not permitted.

Do you have Eftpos on the paddle steamer?
Yes, Eftpos is available both in the Riverboat Centre and on the vessel - No Paywave.
What parking is available?
There is free parking near the Riverboat Centre, all around Moutoa Gardens and along the riverbank up river from the Riverboat Centre. There parking can be congested on Saturday mornings as a result of the market.
Do we provide charters for private functions?
Yes, we do provide charters, if it's on a day we have a 11am sailing, we can provide charters after 2.30pm (boarding at 2pm). For more information please contact us at info.waimarie.co.nz
Can I bring my stroller/walker onboard?
Yes, as long as it does not take up too much room on the vessel.
Is the paddle steamer coal or diesel powered?
Our paddle steamer is most definitely coal powered - New Zealand's only coal fired paddle steamer which plied Te Awa Tupua, the Whanganui River at the turn of the 1900 century.
Do we offset our carbon footprint?
Yes, we most definitely do. We offset our carbon footprint by supporting local tree planting initiatives which primarily relate to the health of local whenua and Te Awa Tupua, the Whanganui River.
